What I love about California

We recently took a LONG trip across the Northwest US and though it was wonderful and we had a spectacular time, on the drive home I was so excited to get “home” for some good ol’ California reasons. California is my home. There are a few qualities about the state which make it difficult to live/pay taxes here, but I’m a Cali girl through and through. I don’t even know if I realize it until I leave my dear golden state for a time, but this is where I’d always be happy to lay my head at night. Since I’ve…

Mother’s Day: The “Holiday” of Disappointment

We are super blessed this year to be spending time with very close friends for Mother’s Day. Our family is out of town and we have the most gracious of hosts who have invited our large family to stay with them for a few days. Last night as my long time friend and I were reminiscing about life and talking about what would be today’s (Mother’s Day) plans, we discussed briefly the draw backs of the “holiday” when you have tiny ones in your care. Wittingly she laughed, “They should just rename Mother’s Day the “holiday” of disappointment!! We cracked…

Road Trip: A Test Drive

You might remember that we are prepping for a long road trip.  Hopefully you saw my post on healthy traveling tips. Well, thankfully we had a wedding this weekend 8 hours away and in a short 4 day span of time we had to travel 16 hours there and back.   I wanted to share with you our successes and failures! The drive out was great!! We didn’t eat out once, we didn’t watch one video and the children did really well.  Now, if this sounds unrealistic to you then let me tell you, no one was more surprised than…

Road Trip Prep Series: 6 Healthy Road Trip Tips

For me most of the battle for making healthy choices comes in mental preparation.  If I don’t get mentally prepared then I sure won’t get actually prepared with what I need. I’m a terrible planner because I don’t think of things far in advance and then I don’t have time to do what needs to be done.  I’m just a go with the flow kind of lady, which isn’t a great way to achieve healthier eating habits on a month long road trip so, here is my mental preparation….These are my goals, but great tips for anyone!! 6 Healthy Road…

Dear Woman in Motherhood Store

Dear Woman in the Motherhood Store, First, let me say congratulations on your new grandbaby. I can tell you are very much in love with the new addition to your family. Also I would like to commend you for going with your daughter to try on maternity clothes so you could hold her newborn and most likely your first grandbaby while she was in the dressing room.  Babies are such a blessing from the Lord. You are blessed. Now, I know we don’t know each other so you didn’t know the day I saw you, it was my birthday…

10 Ways to Motivate You When You Are Tired

Pregnant with baby number 6 I often find myself not wanting to even get out of bed I’m just so tired. These lovely little blessings can be exhausting!! Of course having to get up and potty several times in the middle of the night and having to switch sides every 15 minutes because my hips hurt probably are the real culprits!! I know that sometimes I don’t  go to be early enough and occasionally I forget to take my prenatals and my body is probably low on supplies, but what do you do when you are doing all the “right” things and…
